The question (12 marks)
A residents' welfare body in a city adopts a written rule that no resident may cook or serve meat anywhere in the building, and provides that a resident who breaks it will be fined and reported to the managing committee. Long before the rule was written, residents of one floor had stopped inviting a meat-eating neighbour to festivals, and shopkeepers nearby had begun refusing him deliveries. (a) Classify the written rule and the two earlier reactions against the sociological classification of norms, and say which type each belongs to. (b) Using the same classification, explain why the written rule may be obeyed where the earlier reactions were not, and what a lawyer should notice about the relation between the two. (12 marks)

How an answer is marked
A full-marks answer names the issue in one line, states the rule with its section, cites the authority, applies it to these facts and concludes — in that order. The app's model answer for this question is written in exactly that shape, with a checklist to mark your own attempt against.
